Private Commissions: How it works!
At The Distant Veil, we take great pride in offering a highly seamless commission experience that is meticulously tailored to meet your unique needs and preferences. Here’s a detailed overview of how our comprehensive process works:
Initial Contact: Begin by reaching out to us with your specific commission request. We will promptly set up a discussion, allowing us to fully understand your particular requirements, including the number of models you wish to have painted and the desired level of service you are expecting. During this conversation, we will also discuss the anticipated pricing and materials costs, if necessary, and afterward, we will return to you with a full itemised quotation for the entire commission.
Project Agreement: Once we have gathered all your valuable details, we’ll come together to agree on a final price and a suitable timeframe for the project. Our typical turnaround times are as follows:
Tabletop Quality: Approximately 4 weeks from the date of agreement.
Tabletop Plus Quality: Between 4-6 weeks, depending on the complexity involved.
Display Quality: 4-8 weeks, subject to our current workload.
Deposits: To secure your commission, we require the following deposits:
For projects under $500, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required upfront.
For commissions exceeding $500, a 25% non-refundable deposit will be collected, along with your agreement to our carefully outlined service terms.
Shipping Arrangements: Clients will be responsible for the postage costs associated with delivering their miniatures to us, as well as for the return shipping of the completed pieces. Please note that any customs or excise charges incurred during this process will be the responsibility of the client.
During the Commission: At The Distant Veil, we prioritize transparent communication throughout the entire commission process. From the initial stages to the final touches, clients will receive multiple project updates, allowing for continuous dialogue and feedback. We believe that your satisfaction is paramount, and we welcome discussions to ensure every detail aligns with your vision. Before we send the finished pieces, we will provide high-quality images for your review, allowing you to appreciate the craftsmanship and make any final interpretations. Our goal is to create an enjoyable and personalized experience that results in stunning miniatures tailored to your expectations.
Image Usage: By commissioning us, you grant permission for The Distant Veil to use images of your beautifully painted pieces on our social media platforms for promotional purposes. The intellectual property of these images will remain with Distant Veil Studios.
Purchasing Miniatures: Should you require assistance, we offer the option to purchase miniatures at the recommended retail price (RRP) and will pass these costs directly onto you.
Additional Services: Please be aware that there may be additional costs associated with extra services such as building, sanding, and the careful removal of mold lines or flashing.
